Pumpkin Patching is a precious tradition for our family. We each pick a pumpkin to carve on the eve of Halloween, then flock to the hay maze, where things tend to get a little competitive – the sign may read, “Ages 5 and below,” but it’s proven to be fun for all ages. After years of farm romping in Colorado, we’d like to think we are experts on the best locations for this fall outing. Here are our tried and true pumpkin spots for you and your friends/family.
Rock Creek Farm has been one of our stomping grounds for over a decade. They have fields of pumpkins to choose from, which takes the stress off finding a round masterpiece. After selecting pumpkins, there’s entertainment for the whole family – a corn maze, petting zoo, bouncy castle, and activities on the scarier side when the sun sets. In the good old days, they had the most decadent caramel apples. Although they are no longer on the menu, there’s a wide array of tasty treats to take home with your pumpkins.
You could also venture to Anderson Farms for a slightly different experience. Head into the main area, where you can grab a bite to eat, visit the gift shop, or take pictures with your heads in themed wooden cutouts. To get to the pumpkin patch, you’ll hop aboard their trailer bus and let their tractors pull you to your destination. On the way there, you’ll get a glimpse at all of the other activities; laser tag, zombie paintball, and a giant corn maze! They have an impressive array of pumpkins of all shapes, colors, and sizes to choose from. This pumpkin patch is a total crowd-pleaser!
